Nina Shatskaya is an amazing singer whose creative style lies in an unusual, fresh and dynamic interpretation of traditional works, a synthesis of various musical genres. Each composition is distinguished by the highest vocal culture and dramatic skill. Nina Shatskaya - Honored Artist of Russia, she is widely known as one of the best performers of jazz and romances. This singer has truly unique gift, she can perform classic jazz compositions with the intonations of Alexander Vertinsky, and her Russian romances are reminiscent of the timbre of Billie Holiday.

Nina received her education in the city of St. Petersburg, where she graduated from the Humanitarian University, as well as a music school-studio.

The first pop experience of Nina Shatskaya was performances in her father's jazz orchestra "Rainbow". After that, the young singer moved to live in Moscow, where she continued to improve her vocal skills, studying at the Academy. Gnesins.

To date, Nina Shatskaya's repertoire includes compositions of various styles, including retro, Russian songs, jazz, and romances. She has a number of interesting solo projects, including such outstanding programs as "Autumn Triptych" and "Sorceress" - a project dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of the great Anna Akhmatova.

In "The Sorceress" Nina sings to the accompaniment of the piano, but this action is only a kind of preparation for the main event, Akhmatova's poems, accompanied by a symphony orchestra. The project uses new arrangements of famous songs, some romances are turned into ballads. Nina Shatskaya believes that such a mixture of styles is quite acceptable today, because any going beyond the established musical formats allows you to create something new, fresh, and interesting.

Nina's fans today are divided into two practically irreconcilable camps: some believe that she needs to concentrate on playing jazz, while others consider Nina's true vocation - the classics of Russian romance. Nina Shatskaya herself is sure that her creative credo is the performance of traditional romances with jazz intonation. The singer calls her songs “music for adults”, that is, for people with a cultural background who are able not only to hear, but also to understand, compare, evaluate ... Her repertoire is closely connected with the Russian poetic heritage. This choice is not accidental, the meaning and lyrics of the songs are of paramount importance for the singer.

Today, the voice of Nina Shatskaya is heard at the best venues in the country - at the Moscow International House of Music, the Variety Theatre, the Oktyabrsky State Concert Hall in St. Petersburg, the KDS in Moscow, etc. Nina Shatskaya is a frequent guest at musical events organized at the state level - for royalty and official delegations from other countries. Tour schedule the singer is tightly scheduled - the best concert venues in Russia and around the world are waiting for her!

DIRECT SPEECH. NINA SHATSKAYA

“Nineteen years old, young, ambitious and skinny provincial, I appeared in the mid-80s of the last century to conquer St. Petersburg. Having successfully passed the entrance exams, on a sunny September, among first-year students, I was seconded to harvest potatoes in the Volkhov region.

But, about how one and a half autumn months flew by in the potato fields of the Leningrad Region, I will tell you another time. Now about how my life evolved upon my return to St. Petersburg!

Cloudy student weekdays, with nightly gatherings in a hostel, dry food and unusual independence, from time to time were enlivened by discos. And since there were very few men in our "Institute of Noble Maidens", in search of St. Petersburg suitors, the girls had to go to dances in nautical schools!

Communication with the cadets did not attract me and I began to have fun with nightly visits to theaters, fortunately I found a theater box office on Nevsky with a kind cashier who supplied scarce tickets to Kirovsky, BDT and Maly Drama, with a "load" - tickets to philharmonic concerts ... Now I think that the cashier involuntarily played a significant role in my life, whom only I did not hear then in the Great Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic ...

And then one day, having got the coveted ticket to the Opera, not yet the Mariinsky, but the Kirov, putting on my best dress, in anticipation of a meeting with the beautiful, I crossed the threshold of the temple of arts ...

As expected, I changed my boots for shoes, bought a program and joined the circle of the elite, and it was then customary in theaters before the start of performances and during the intermission to walk around the foyer in a decorous round dance! And this round dance seemed to me consisting entirely of people chosen, outstanding.

And the intermission came, and again I joined in a round dance!

And I was so bursting with self-importance that I didn’t immediately feel hot breath behind my back, but looking around I saw a young tall handsome man breathing hotly into my crown! He was indescribably good! And apparently, passionate and easily excitable, his eyes shamelessly rummaged through my bulges, for a month and a half of rural life, strongly rounded, with difficulty squeezed into the toilets brought from Rybinsk. But, the times were the most stagnant and it was almost impossible to buy something elegant...

So here it is! He feels me with his eyes, and he tells me that he is a theater trainee, vocalist and brother of some prima from the Kirovsky troupe ... And I also swam away from the heat, both his and my own ...

In short, as soon as I told about my Rybinsk origin, and a hostel with two neighbors, he immediately turned sour, whined that he was living with his parents and retreated, without enthusiasm putting a piece of paper with the hostel watch number into his pocket ...

And I began to wait for a call from him, like that heroine Muravyova from Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears. And by hook or by crook she broke through to Kirovsky, but only in vain. Never met.

In the meantime, I had to study a lot, with all my might I wanted to become the best from a school student ... At night, essays, notes during the day, and from all this hassle I began to swell by leaps and bounds. I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror; in half a year I ate more than 20 kg. During the day she starved, and at night she could rush to the Moscow railway station for grilled chicken and rolls, except for the station buffets, nothing worked at night.

I passed my first session almost perfectly. But, I didn’t go home for the holidays, I didn’t want to show my friends. I stayed in a hostel with those who had no one to return to and foreigners from Vietnam, Laos and Mongolia, the trade unions paid for their travel only once a year, for the summer holidays ...

And then again I get a ticket to Kirovsky, but there’s nothing to wear on the way out, I don’t fit into anything ...

She went to borrow from her friend, Luda-karelka, large, strong and cheerful - fire, she sewed for herself and no complexes! I borrowed a pink synthetic dress from her, without darts, with a bag and a collar-collar!

And so... I’m wandering like a pink marshmallow among the public front and suddenly, between the measured swaying of human heads, the top of my Hero ... Only my hero looks at me strangely and seems to be intently, and seems to be breathing noisily, but he didn’t come up, he disappeared outside the office door and was like this ...

Do not break behind the scenes. I changed my shoes, put a change in a bag and, along the sleet sprinkled with sand, I go to the bus stop, I think about what to profit from in the station buffet, on the way to the hostel. .

And suddenly a babble over your ear, they say, excuse me, but do you have a younger sister ?! I met de half a year ago with a girl, and she does not go out of my head. But, I lost my phone and I don’t remember where she studies ... And that girl, allegedly, is very similar to you, only, sorry, slimmer and younger!

Nina Shatskaya was given the flattering title of diva of Russian romance. Her unique vocals can evoke a whole range of emotions in the listener - from sincere sadness to a cheerful smile. The singer's repertoire is built mainly on modern, rather daring interpretations of jazz compositions and romances.

Childhood and youth

The future star was born in January 1966 in the city of Rybinsk, in the Yaroslavl region. Mom Tatyana Bondarovskaya was the director of the local House of Culture, one of the best in the Soviet Union. Father Arkady Shatsky chose the profession of a conductor, led a jazz band. Parents saw a drop of talent in their daughter. At the music school, Nina sang in the boys' choir, which lacked viola owners, mastered solfeggio, but never learned to play the piano.

Nina Shatskaya in her youth

At the age of 15, she performed a romance for the first time, but was not delighted with the prospect of performing such music. At that moment, Shatskaya liked other genres. Years later, the singer, by her own admission, realized the correctness of the teacher.

After graduating from a school with in-depth study of English, Nina worked for a year in a village club, in order to then enter the Humanitarian University of Trade Unions in a managerial specialty. Having completed her last year, Shatskaya finally realized that she wanted to connect her life with music and went to the vocal studio of the Leningrad Music Hall. For unknown reasons, the student was expelled after a year.

Nina worked at Lenconcert, participated in competitions and performed on stage. Then she moved to Moscow, where she got a job in a variety show on Tverskaya Street, and from there to Italy. According to Shatskaya, in Europe she was not going to make a career as a model, as the media wrote. The professional photos that sparked these rumors were taken by a friend as a gift.

The singer returned to her homeland at the age of 30 and immediately began the path to fame.

Music

Nina's first solo concert took place at the Moscow Variety Theater. The performance program included jazz compositions, romances, songs at the intersection of these genres, ballads and retro hits. This approach provided the young woman with delight and recognition from fans. The main thing, according to Shatskaya, is that the performance should be sincere and sincere.

Together with her friend Olga Kabo, the singer created several concert programs for poetry and. Fans also fell in love with the cycle of albums called "Autumn Triptych", which included the records "Emerald", "Jazz Mainstream" and "Song of Happiness". In 2014, the performer was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Russia.

IN creative biography Nina Shatskaya found a place not only for music. She tried her hand as an actress, starring in episodes of the series "In the first circle" and "On the corner, at the Patriarchs."

Despite the prevailing musical career, in 2017 Nina decided to participate in the show "". Choosing a composition for "blind auditions", the singer settled on the romance "Charming Eyes". From the first chords, the judge understood who was singing. Later, the musician admitted that he did not press the coveted button just because he wanted Shatskaya to get into the team of a younger mentor. And so it happened: she ended up in the group and reached the quarterfinals.

Personal life

The singer does not like to talk about the details of her personal life. It is known that in the 90s Nina Shatskaya had a relationship with Franco Vitale, a photographer from Italy. However, the romance did not last long. Franco's intentions were serious, but Nina fell in love with another.

Later, the bright brunette was credited with a relationship with movie and pop stars, but Shatskaya did not comment on the rumors. In an interview, she admitted that, like most women, she dreams of getting married and having children, but she understands that it will be hard for her husband next to a self-sufficient person whose life is dedicated to the stage.

Nina Arkadievna Shatskaya is a singer who stands out for her soulful and modern performance of Russian romances and jazz compositions. It has everything to fall in love with the viewer: a bewitching timbre of voice, natural beauty and regal posture. However, before shining on the big stages and becoming the Honored Artist of Russia, she had to go through a long and thorny path.

Today, Nina Shatskaya is a sought-after artist who successfully tours with unique solo programs. This year she is under the mentorship of Dima Bilan.

Nina Shatskaya spoke about her childhood hobbies, turning points in her career, participation in the Voice and favorite songs.

- You were born and raised in a creative family, music has always been in your life. In childhood and youth, did you have hobbies that were not related to creativity?

— When I was little, my grandmother taught me to crochet, knit and cross-stitch. And I really loved these activities. But my father thought that it was better for me to study music, dance, and did not welcome my sedentary, domestic, girlish habits.

- It is obvious that the talent and love for music was passed on to you from your father - the musician and conductor Arkady Isaakovich Shatsky, who is still loved and remembered in his native Rybinsk today. And what abilities and character traits did you inherit from your mother? How did Tatyana Nikolaevna influence your development as an actress, singer?

Mom has always been the keeper of the hearth. Despite the fact that she was very busy at work (she worked as the director of the Palace of Culture and the head of the personnel department of a large factory), we always had delicious dinners cooked at home, it was always clean. I also love to cook, I'm good at various delicious soups.

When I was in high school, we had a small dacha. My mother was very fond of planting flowers. I also have a lot of beautiful flowers at home in Moscow. My mother is an avid swimmer: even at the age of 65 she could swim across the Volga with flippers in Uglich. I also love to swim with fins.

Everything that is feminine in me is from my mother. In music, probably, my mother did not have a great influence on me, but I always tried to be non-vulgar, non-vulgar, feminine. Many say that I have a regal posture - this is definitely from my mother.

- Your mother, in an interview with Family Education magazine, admitted that you were not praised enough in childhood. Were your parents strict with you?

Yes, I have received little praise. Probably, there was nothing to praise for. I was such a tomboy, I didn’t study well. And my mother and father were excellent students at school, and expected the same success from me. I probably didn’t justify them, and maybe somewhere deep down I disappointed them. And then, in those days when I was growing up, it was not customary to praise children, somehow we were more strict and demanded of us. I am very happy that my mother understands this herself now, and my brother's children are growing up in a completely different atmosphere. And the brother treats them differently, and their mother praises them more than scolds them. Although they get nuts too, if they behave incorrectly and act hooligans.

— Your path to success was not easy and long. I will quote from the memories of the tragic day in your life when your dad passed away:

“As usual, in moments of despair and hopelessness, I called my father, who had gone to Rybinsk for a couple of days. She felt that she was not in demand and was not realized, that there were no concerts, and life was passing by. That you need to change your profession.

Then Arkady Isaakovich supported you, and said that you must learn to wait in the wings, since you have chosen such a profession. How long did it take before you felt needed? There was a lot turning points When did you feel like quitting the stage?

- At first, such thoughts were very common, because it was difficult. There was a period in the early 90s when everything changed. Then, in order to go on stage, you needed a repertoire, but there was nowhere to take the repertoire. For this, money was needed - there was no money. It was such a vicious circle. Buy songs, record arrangements, make costumes... This feeling of hopelessness, of course, drove me to a dead end. But as soon as I was lucky enough to meet with a symphony orchestra and start singing to it, there was already such happiness, such a wealth of music. I felt in demand from the first concerts, which began to sell out. An artist feels in demand when he has a full house in the hall. These full houses began to appear as a result of a very long work, including due to the fact that the Kultura channel began filming me in the Romance of Romance program. The audience recognized me, the halls began to fill up. I can't even remember the last time I thought about leaving the stage.

— Fortunately, your efforts and loyalty to the profession were not in vain. For professional success in 2004 you were awarded the honorary title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation. Remember the day you were told the good news?

— It was a difficult day. My brother came to me, who loves me very much and always supports me. We had a difficult conversation with him. In the summer, well-known artists with a large audience usually work in Russian resorts, gathering large halls. And for artists not of the first echelon, a summer idle time arises, there is very little work.

And so, I sat without work, sad. Brother said: If it will be difficult for you, maybe it makes sense to move to Yaroslavl?! You have a good profession, you will be the director of the Palace of Culture. I'll support you, stay with me, and then we'll think of something". It shocked me so much! It seemed to me that my brother did not believe in me. And it was such a bolt from the blue. This upset me so much that when my brother left, I could not find a place for myself.

Suddenly, late in the evening of the same day, the phone rang. A person connected with the Ministry of Culture congratulated me that I am now an Honored Artist of Russia. I remember my thought. I was so desperate that nothing in life changes, and suddenly this award and the recognition of my artistic status ... I remember that I crossed over some kind of internal boundary, and a new internal countdown began. If up to this moment it seemed to me that the title and title were good, I suddenly realized that this was not so. That this is a recognition of my artistic skill.

Nina Shatskaya on stage

- In your repertoire there are several works with actress Olga Kabo - literary and musical performances "The Sorceress", "Memory of the Sun", "I was looking for you." Are there any new joint projects in your plans?

— Yes, we have already prepared the third performance. It is called one of Akhmatov's lines "The fifth season is love." Usually, when describing this performance, we say that it is the most beloved of the most famous. Olya reads poetry from Pushkin to Bella Akhmadulina - these are the most famous and beloved poems. And I sing the most famous songs: romances, jazz ballads. All this is united by love and the seasons. A very beautiful, rather light performance, if we compare it with the previous ones dedicated to Anna Akhmatova and Marina Tsvetaeva.

— You, as an avid traveler, have probably tried many national dishes in different countries of the world. Can you highlight the most delicious and, conversely, what you will never eat?

- Traveling a lot in Asian countries, I have repeatedly seen how insects are eaten there. I didn't have the courage to try them. I don't know, maybe someday I'll do it, but it's not ready yet. I really like curry in Indochinese countries. And I was very surprised, when I was there for the first time, that we eat rice, which in these countries is sent to Europe for export. And the internal rice, which the Asians themselves eat, is very tasty. It has a pronounced taste and aroma. This struck me, and I still love to try rice dishes when I come to Asian countries.

- The Voice show is a new page in your creative life. And before you, musicians came to the project who are far from newcomers in this area. For example, Andrey Davidyan, Maria Katz, Mariam Merabova, Anton Belyaev, Alexander Panayotov, Arseniy Borodin and many others were already familiar not only to the audience, but also to the mentors. But for some reason it was your participation that caused such a resonance. Why do you think?

“It’s a mystery to me, I can’t understand. I understand that Alexander Panayotov is much more famous among the youth than I am. And Anton Belyaev - even more so. And Andrei Davidyan was much older than me. I don’t understand what is the reason for such a reaction to the fact that I came to the project. Lots of positive reviews and joy that I am in this project.

- Your duet with Albina is one of the most discussed. I know that you actively follow what social media users write. Compliments and an objective assessment are certainly pleasant to read, but how do you feel about criticism? Going to the project, were you ready for the fact that negativity could fall on you?

“I was definitely ready for any situation. Moreover, my very good friend, friend, colleague Mariam Merabova very generously shared her impressions with me and warned me on the eve of the broadcasts that such a situation would definitely happen. That comments are both positive and unkind. So that I do not read them and do not pay attention to them. But of course we never listen to advice. And on the first day I plunged into the comments. We must pay tribute to the fact that there were practically no negative comments at the blind auditions. I was received very kindly. Duets, yes. It seemed to a large number of commentators that Albina, as a younger participant, should have a chance to get access to a wide audience thanks to the Voice. But I have repeatedly said that you can not take someone else's place. If today in our duet Dima chose me, it means that today my place is to be in the project. And Albina is young, she is 25 years old, she will still appear.

— I have my own audience that goes to my concerts and knows me. If we talk about whether they recognize me on the streets, then my image on television and my image in everyday life are very different. I don’t go, as a rule, in evening make-up, in long dresses. In everyday life, I really like casual style. Very rarely do they recognize me. In touring life - yes, very often they come backstage for an autograph, not just because they liked the concert program, but also in order to express their emotions about my participation in the project. Of course it's nice. But I can’t say that I woke up famous in an instant, and my life somehow changed. I didn't feel it.

- The most outstanding personalities gathered in the team of Dima Bilan. Do you communicate with any of the guys outside the project?

“We have an amazing team. Dima chooses very unusual people in his team with his back. It is also unusual that the rest of the teams practically do not communicate with each other in everyday life. And we have a team that celebrates birthdays together, meets at each other's concerts. We don't have such fierce competition, and even many of the eliminated members continue to meet each other, chat and spend time together. It's great! The team is very young, it is very interesting for me to communicate with the guys, to feel what the new generation breathes.

- You speak very warmly about the mentor. "Night hooligan", indeed, revealed to the audience as a deep, intelligent, educated and modest person. With each season, he, as a mentor, receives more and more compliments from his colleagues and viewers. I wonder if you reach the final, which of Dima Bilan's songs would you sing as a duet?

— Dima for me is the main discovery of the project and my participation in it. So thin, he has such a sharp eye, ear, word. At the same time, he is an incredibly delicate, with fantastic intuition, a warm person. I get tremendous pleasure from communicating with him, listen to his advice. I don’t think about a duet with Dima yet. In general, I will say this thing: for sure, many viewers get the impression that a participant can influence the repertoire. In the case of Dima, this is not the case - he is very soft, and you cannot impose your opinion on him. My repertoire is Dima's 100% choice.

- Many expect reincarnation from you within the framework of the project. Will they wait or hope in vain?

- This is a rather difficult moment for me. The song that will be played live absolutely not in my repertoire. He completely knocked me out of my comfort zone. I tried my best to resist and sing anything but the wrong song. Never pressing me, Dima did not leave me a chance to sing something else. I couldn't convince him. I do not know how the public will react, but Dima did not leave a stone unturned from my usual style. And even jazz, unexpected for a wide audience, in which they do not know me, he did not accept. The mentor gave me a song that has absolutely nothing to do with my usual singing.

- The song "Mama", written by the talented composer Dmitry Selipanov to the verses of Marina Tsvetaeva, is one of the strongest in your repertoire. Can you single out one or more of your songs that evoke the most vivid feelings in you?

— So it is, this is one of the most powerful songs written by my favorite composer just for me. This, of course, is happiness - to sing songs that Dima writes. Almost the entire project that Dima wrote for the play “I was looking for you” (13 songs and 1 arrangement) - I love them all very much. Of these, more than half evoke the most vivid emotions in me. This is the first song that Dima sent to the audition “I Remember the Night”, and the final songs “There are lucky ones and lucky ones”, “Ring”, “The Way of the Cross”. I really like to sing "On the road to Zagorsk" (verses by Evgeny Blazheevsky, music by Alexander Podbolotov).

If we talk about romances that are widely known, then in every concert I enjoy singing the song “Love is a magical country” by Andrey Petrov from the movie “ Cruel romance". I like to sing songs from Akhmatova's cycle by Zlata Razdolina. Almost all the songs that I sing I love passionately and brightly manifest themselves in them.

Nina Shatskaya (singer)

Nina (Ninel) Arkadievna Shatskaya. She was born on April 22, 1966 in Rybinsk. Russian singer(soprano), performer of romances and jazz. Honored Artist of the Russian Federation (2004).

Another thing is that she never mixed these genres. As for me, then I grew up in the family of a jazz musician, absorbed this music, and involuntarily jazz intonations made their way through me when I began to sing romances.
