Yuri Ivanovich Ermolaev

You can congratulate us!

Dear children, young readers!

You will open the book, and from the first pages the writer Yuri Ermolaev will introduce you to the familiar life of the school and the pioneer detachment. Familiar and unfamiliar, because so many different curious and funny cases are known to the writer that you have not heard of. He knows a lot of guys, and it will be interesting and joyful for you to get to know them.

You will laugh while reading the book of Yuri Ermolaev, you will laugh even on other pages, and you will think more than once. And after reading the book, you will probably want to take a closer look at your own school, your detachment, your comrades.

Yuri Ermolaev is cheerful and a kind person That's why his books are funny and kind.

It rarely happens that a person becomes a writer right from school. The writer needs life experience, a lot of knowledge to have something to talk about. Here Yuri Ermolaev first became an actor, a very good actor, but at the same time he wanted to write, and it was for children. What talent will overpower? Overcame the craving for writing. How interesting it is to meet the guys at school and the Palace of Pioneers, a pioneer camp and just somewhere in summer park or at the winter stadium! How many schoolchildren friends Yuri Ivanovich Ermolaev has! He will come to the library - they will surround him with a close crowd, they will not let him go.

About them, his good young friends, Yuri Ivanovich wrote the first stories. Transmitted by radio. Letters rained down, sincere, grateful responses from radio listeners, not only young ones - mothers, and fathers, and grandmothers wrote. This inspired, decided fate - Yuri Ivanovich Ermolaev becomes a children's writer. Enthusiastic, in love with his work. In love with their crafty and mischievous, sympathetic and smart, active and inventive heroes.

So in the story “You can congratulate us!” Fellow comrades, fourth-graders Petya and Pavlik, both study and make friends, and invent an interesting game full of secrets and hopes. The game has a serious meaning, benefits. But I don’t want to reveal the secret of Petya and Pavlik to you in advance - it’s more interesting to read and find out for yourself.

In another story by Yuri Ermolaev, “Arrows are fired at the target,” I am also fascinated by the stormy pioneer life, childish inventions, the noise of the school, running around, talking, and all the time, all the time something is being invented, discovered, searched for. I like the girl Sveta Mokhova. She is very shy and seems timid due to her shyness. But when required, she will be able to become solid. Probably, you will also fall in love with Sveta Mokhova and her comrades and girlfriends.

So, dear young readers, in front of you is an interesting, funny, fascinating book, and, probably, starting to read it, you will not tear yourself away to the end and say to the author:

Thank you!

Maria Prilezhaeva

You can congratulate us!

Guys!

I, fourth-grader Petya Moshkin, and my friend Pavlik Khokholkov were terribly worried that our link was not friendly. Pavlik even once said: “We don’t have a link, but a real vinaigrette!”

And what was it like for me, the leader, to hear? So I decided: it can't go on like this anymore!

We tried to make the link and fix the biggest lazy person - the repeater Fedka.

This story is about our deeds. The author called it "You can congratulate us!". He probably thought we had already done everything. And I think it's too early to congratulate us. It's only now that we're starting to get something. And before that - some troubles and experiences.

With pioneer greetings

team leader Petya Moshkin

They didn't let me rest!

Fourteen days! One hundred and sixty-eight hours! Ten thousand eighty minutes! Just think about it! And all this free time was already behind. Winter holidays are over. The textbook lay on the desk, I held a fountain pen in my hand, and Iraida Kondratievna had to listen to all four lessons. I must ... and although I am aware of this, I still think about something else ...

The capital circus will come to our city soon. I read about it in the city newspaper. That would be to take patronage over the predators! Brilliant idea! I like to mess with animals. The neighbor's puppy loves me more than his owners. During the holidays, he did not leave a single step from Pavlik and me.

Peacock is my friend. We are always with him. We have been sitting at the same desk since first grade. I decided to tell him about my idea.

We will not be allowed to patronize predators, - Pavlik shook his head, - we are minors.

Then let's patronize the camels.

No, thank you, - Pavlik flatly refused, - I don’t need such happiness. Camels spit. When I went to Moscow, I saw how in the Zoo for no reason at all a camel spat on a citizen in a hat. Ruined the whole hat. I have a new uniform.

Pavlik is so clean, just awful? For his accuracy, he has been a permanent orderly for our third year. As they were chosen in the second grade, so far they have not been replaced by anyone.

What are we going to do after school? I asked.

Let's go to the cinema? Pavlik suggested.

No, that's enough, - I waved my hands.

In the House of Culture, the same film that Pavlik and I saw six times during the holidays was on. Learned almost by heart. I looked at Zhenya Rogov and began to write him a note: after all, his father is the director of the House of Culture, and Zhenya always knows before anyone else when a new movie is coming. But then, behind me, Fedka Batov hummed like a bumblebee with his bass.

Today at the House of Culture a new film comedy will be shown, - he told his friends sitting behind him - Anton Zdobnov and Grishka Gvozdikov, - “The striped flight” is called. You will roll under the chairs from laughter.

I will not wallow, - Grishka Gvozdikov was upset, - I have no money.

And don't, - Fedka consoled him, - we'll go through for free.

Have you become the director of the DC? Anton chuckled.

Will they let everyone in? Anton asked doubtfully.

Be calm, - Fedka nodded his head. - She wants to make an asset of young spectators out of us. So that we can help before the children's sessions.

Then he will miss, - decided Anton.

I'll bring two, - obsequiously squeaked Grishka Gvozdikov and smacked his lips deliciously, as if he had already drunk fruit water.

Dear reader!

Far away in the Trans-Urals, a wonderful doctor Gavriil Abramovich Ilizarov lives and works. Like a fairy-tale wizard, he brings back to life, it would seem, terminally ill people, makes them healthy and happy. He and his assistants - doctors, nurses, nurses and, of course, the children they treat - gave the writer Yuri Ermolaev the material for this book.

The story "The House of Brave Cowards" (as he calls it in the book chief doctor pediatric department of the clinic) is not documented. It does not talk about what new methods of treatment the Trans-Ural doctor has found and successfully uses. The writer, first of all, seeks to show little patients, to convey their great desire to overcome their illness and become healthy.

Together with Nadya Ermakova and her friends in the ward, Varya Osipova, Jannat Shamkhalova and little Olechka, you, the reader, will go through many trials and find out the joy of the victory that the heroine of the book won over herself. And this joy was for her the greatest in the world.

Chapter first. Agree!

From the windowsill of the high ground floor, Nadia can see the whole courtyard. Here, by the open window, is her favorite place. Nadia knows almost all the residents of her house, although it is not small: four entrances and five floors. Girls and boys often run up to her. Telling something, sharing news. Her classmates Tanechka Markova and Sonya Gurova have just told Nadia that Lena Kuznetsova won't go out for a walk because she got an A in math. Because of this, they cannot jump over the rope. After all, together you can only twist the rope, and there is no one to jump.

If you were healthy, you would have twisted the jump ropes for us, - plump Tanechka told her and ran home for a bicycle.

They bought Tanechka a Shkolnik bicycle to ride and lose weight. Tanechka is still skating badly. Every now and then he takes his feet off the pedals and lowers them to the ground: he is afraid to fall. Here Dimka Novikov from the eighth apartment rides a bicycle like an acrobat. Even behind the wheel sometimes does not hold. And this is very difficult. Dima is kind. All the guys ride on his "Eaglet", and Dimka puts the kids on the frame and drives around the yard himself. If Nadya is sitting on the windowsill at this time, Dimka will definitely pass by and greet her loudly, otherwise he will throw a matchbox with a new label to Nadya. Dimka knows that Nadya is collecting match labels. Now Dimka is skating too. Passing by Nadia, he threw a small yellow flower on her window sill. And then he disappeared around the corner of the house. Even Nadino "thank you" did not hear.

Worth the most good time year is spring. A little more than a week is left before the May holiday. Nadia loves this time very much. He loves to watch how the gray sky turns blue every day and the air turns from cold and tasteless to warm and slightly sweet, how the buds burst on the trees and tiny green leaves jump out of them, similar to open bird beaks.

Nadia names almost all the trees in the yard in her own way. Cherry, on which not a single berry appeared in all four years, Nadya called Markovskaya, because the fat woman Tanya Markova also never gives anything to anyone and does not share anything with her friends. And the apple tree strewn with white petals is Dimkina. After all, Dimka planted it three years ago, when the tenants arranged a subbotnik in the yard. For some reason, a sandbox was made next to the apple tree, and now the apple tree often gets from the kids. Someone will hit the trunk with a shovel, someone will jump up and pick a flower. Nadia takes pity on the apple tree. She repeatedly shouted to the kids not to touch her. But the kids rarely listen to Nadia. After all, she cannot run after them or shout that she will catch up and punish them. Even on crutches, Nadya walks with difficulty and very slowly.

When she was four years old, Nadia became seriously ill and had a complication. Mom and dad have already taken her three times to a children's sanatorium to the Black Sea. There Nadya was buried waist-deep in hot sand, given water massages, and forced to stand against the wall for an hour, stretching as far as she could. But all efforts were in vain. What Nadya came to the south, every time she came back. There, on the Black Sea, she wanted to learn how to swim. Everyone around dived, swam in a race, and she would just go into the water with her mother by the hand, plunge and immediately back. It will burrow into the sand on the shore and watch others swim. Here and at home now, when swimmers are shown on TV, it simply cannot be torn off the screen. After each pass, Nadia tumbles for a long time on a spring mattress: she imagines that she is participating in competitions and swimming, overtaking all her rivals. Too bad you can't dive on the couch. But Nadia still found a way out. She pulled a sheet over the sofa cushions, and cut several round holes in it. Then she crawled under the sheet and “floated” under it, now and then sticking her head into the cut holes. (This is in order to get air on the surface of the water for a new protracted dive.) Well, she got it that day from her mother for the ruined sheet! Nadia herself felt sorry for her. And most importantly, no matter how much you play, it is still impossible to become a swimmer with such diseased legs.

Now Nadia only has to watch how other guys frolic. Nadia was very surprised that they stick out in the yard all the time. If she were in their place, she would go to the House of Pioneers in some circle, study in the pool and go to all sorts of interesting exhibitions. It's a shame she can't even get on the bus alone. And my mother has no time to travel with Nadia. Although she does not work in an institution, she takes handwritten papers from one publishing house and retypes them at home on a typewriter. Nadia also wants to learn how to type as fast as her mother. But so far she can only tap on the keys with letters with one finger, and then she often gets confused and hits the wrong letter.

But today Nadia can’t take on anything. And on the windowsill she settled down not to look at the guys. Every now and then Nadya turns her head towards the yard arch to see if dad has appeared there. Early in the morning he went to some famous surgeon to show pictures of Nadia's legs. There was a big article about this doctor in the newspaper. It was written there that he helps such patients as Nadia. Maybe he'll take care of her too. The doctor lives somewhere far away, but he came to Moscow for an important meeting.

Nadine's dad also went to this meeting. He will try to talk to the surgeon during the break. Dad keeps assuring Nadia that she will be healthy in the end. And when she left for the sanatorium, he assured, and when Nadia was put in plaster casts. But only now Nadia has little faith in this. Now dad's words are like a fairy tale without a good wizard. That's why she has a sad ending every time.

Nadia considered. How often had she imagined this non-existent wizard! Here comes to the window, near which she sits, an ordinary old man and asks her:

"Why aren't you walking, girl?"

Nadia answers. And suddenly the old man, like a real magician, waves his hands, utters some incomprehensible words, like: “Cribly-crably-boom!” - and Nadia jumps up, spins around the room on perfectly healthy legs and immediately runs to the girls to jump over the rope. Surprised, they all freeze in place. And the old wizard instantly disappears. It certainly didn't exist at all. And then Nadia enters the pool and, of course, sets a swimming record.

And how many times the old wizard came to Nadia at night, in a dream. Then he gave her difficult tasks: to rescue Dimka from the kingdom of Baba Yaga, who entered her possessions on his "Eaglet". Or save the repeater Sashulya from the deuces that defeated him. If Nadia rescues Dimka or Sashulya, her legs will become straight and healthy, like those of ballerinas on the TV screen. And Nadya saved Dimka and Sashulya more than once. Even Baba Yaga she managed to make in a dream a kind and sympathetic old woman. And he wakes up - his legs are still sore. And from resentment, tears are welling up.
