The fate of Sid Vicious is an amazing mixture of unprecedentedness and tragedy: the man, whose very image became the personification of a whole musical movement (we say "punk", we mean Vicious), in fact, practically left no musical heritage. He died at 21 - and his whole little crazy life easily fits into a few stories. We remember them all on the birthday of the musician, who could have turned 60 on May 10. However, then he wouldn't be Sid Vicious.

Didn't want to study, but wanted to be a musician

In fact, he was not Sid Vicious. John Simon Ritchie was born to a former Buckingham Palace security guard and a woman with a drug addiction. Mother hooked on drugs and teenage son. However, in addition to the first doses, she gave him fashion records to listen to, David Bowie became John's favorite musician.

He could not even think of any human career with such initial data. At the age of 15, he leaves school, goes to study as a photographer (of course, he does not finish his studies), meets a young musician John Lydon - and begins to play Bowie songs with him on the streets of London. More precisely, Lydon plays - Richie, who does not really own a single instrument, frantically knocks on a tambourine and performs wild dances. At this moment, he gets the nickname "Sid Vicious", "Mad Sid". According to one version - in honor of another madman Syd Barrett from Pink Floyd, and according to another - in honor of Lydon's tame hamster named Sid, who once for no reason bit the owner.

I didn't want to study music either.

Soon Sid and Lydon, along with their friends Glen Matlock, Steve Jones and Paul Cook, found a new group - Swankers, and come to the attention of Malcolm McLaren, at that time the owner of the legendary store on Kings Road called Too Fast To Live, Too Young To Die. The result was the emergence of the Sex Pistols - a great punk band, a style icon, molded from what was, by McLaren himself and his girlfriend Vivienne Westwood.

By the way, initially Westwood wanted to make Vicious, and not Lydon, the leader of the group - in terms of stage frenzy before Sid, all the other participants were like the moon. Although Sid did not really learn to play the bass guitar handed to him. The great and terrible Lemmy Kilmister himself took up the training of the young man, but he, after a dozen lessons, gave up - Sid did not dry out and did not remember anything from Kilmister's instructions. So on the group's studio recordings, Vicious was not trusted to play a single note.

And at concerts, his bass guitar was simply turned off. The main thing was not this - McLaren strongly supported any stage frenzy, and Sid was much on them. He liked to drive the audience around the hall or, for example, launch a bicycle chain at a journalist. At the same time, he didn’t really know how to fight and often got back from no less eminent counterparts - from Paul Weller to David Coverdale.

Met the right girl

The main event of Sid's life was the appearance of Nancy Spungen in it. A blonde groupie from America, a fan of the Ramones and a real jerk, literally drove him crazy. Firstly, she shared all his addictions, including the most pernicious ones, and secondly, she encouraged them in every possible way.

During the first and last American tours of the Sex Pistols (the group was not released in the USA for a long time due to Sid's madness), the musicians split into two camps: one was Cook, Jones and McLaren, the other Lydon and Vicious.

At concerts, Sid's madness reached its climax - in response to a caustic remark from some spectator, he hit him in the head with a bass guitar. At a concert in San Francisco, Lydon announced his departure from the group, and was simply thrown into the world enraged McLaren penniless. Cooke and Jones returned to England, and Sid hung out in New York with new friends who saved him from another overdose - and eventually sent him to London, to Nancy.

Couldn't handle money

In London, McLaren tries to take over the cases of Sid and Nancy, molding them into apologists for a new uncompromising and uncompromising style. Syd tries to record a cover of Frank Sinatra's My Way in Paris, but the recording again ends in scandal. Nancy becomes Syd's manager, flies to America and tries to negotiate a tour, and Syd receives a $25,000 check from McLaren, which turns out to be fatal. The spree begins - the final in the life of Sid and Nancy.

One day, after waking up in a hotel room, Sid found Nancy in the bathroom. She was dead, someone had stabbed her. A stunned Sid called the police - and was immediately arrested on suspicion of murder. McLaren came to the rescue - he pulled Sid out of jail on bail and tried to persuade him to start recording a new record. But Sid, absolutely crushed by Nancy's death, went back to the heroin marathon. During times of brief clarification of consciousness, he tried to commit suicide, but eventually died on February 2, 1979 from an overdose.

Sid Vicious left almost no musical legacy - however, he cared about it the least. Nancy was his only purpose in life - his only love, quite worthy of such a madman. And for the fact that he never learned to play the bass, no one can condemn him.

Forever remained among the inhabitants of London (literally)

According to one legend, Sid's ashes were scattered over Nancy's grave, according to another, McLaren managed to arrange the last performance with his remains, throwing some of Vicious's ashes into the ventilation system of Heathrow Airport. The fact is that this system has a closed circuit, so that - according to McLaren - everyone who flies to London in one way or another inhales and takes away with them a tiny part of Sid Vicious. As a symbol of punk England, which rumbled through world culture - and remained in it forever.

Sid Vicious is the face of punk rock with all its madness, fury and naive charm. Evil Sid is the pseudonym of Londoner John Simon Richie, who is called the epitome of punk culture from a difficult childhood through a violent youth to a ridiculous death and an idiotic incident with an urn with his ashes - the perfect punk in life and after death. After that it was.

Ann's mother took the cremated remains of her son, who died in New York, home to England and, landing at London Heathrow, either by accident or intentionally (Annie Ritchie was a hippie and was very familiar with heroin and other types of hard drugs that young Johnny I tried it for the first time at home in the company of my mother. So you can expect everything from this woman, according to one version, she is even suspected of killing her child idol) knocked over an urn at the airport, allowing the ashes of the cult rocker to fly into the ventilation pipe.

The musical career of the iconic punk was tumultuous, frantic and short. In 1957, Johnny was born, in the early 1970s he picked up a guitar and renamed himself Sid, in 1977 he became part of the already popular Sex Pistols and literally during his debut concert he turned into a real star, the brightest, most noticeable and recognizable character "sex pistols". A bony skinny figure, defiant clothes, hooligan behavior in public, poisonous hair color, disheveled hair - no matter how evil punk. Although the photos of Sid Vicious are deceptive, because in ordinary life he was a very shy and timid guy who was driven insane by drugs. And when their action ended, the odious rocker again became quiet and calm, as far as possible from his stage image of a rebel, anarchist and bully. Although he played his part really well - the punk-rock-sex-gun charisma is felt in every presented photo of half a century ago.

Sid was placed in Rikers Prison. McLaren persuaded Virgin Records to provide a security deposit (50 thousand dollars), promising a new album from Sid. Warner Bros. raised money for a team of lawyers and the suspect was released on bail. On October 22, still in a state of deep shock from the death of his beloved, Sid attempted to commit suicide. While he was in the hospital, he was cared for by his mother, who flew in from England. Barely discharged, Sid got into a fight on December 9, smashed a bottle on the head of Patti Smith's brother Todd Smith, and was arrested for 55 days. On February 1, he was again released on bail and headed to the apartment of his new girlfriend Michelle Robinson with his mother and a group of friends. Here he took a dose of heroin and lost consciousness. Those present managed to bring him to his senses, after which he took heroin again. “I could swear that at that moment a pinkish aura appeared over him,” Ann Beverly later said. - In the morning I brought him tea. Sid lay in complete peace. I tried to push him, and then I realized that he was cold ... And dead.

New York Chief Coroner Dr. Michael Baden, who performed the autopsy, determined that the heroin found in his system was 80 percent pure, while Vicious usually used a 5 percent solution.

On February 7, 1979, Sid Vicious was cremated, and a few days later, Ann Beverly (despite the protests of the Spungen couple) scattered his ashes - as is commonly believed, over Nancy's grave in the cemetery of King David. Later, however, there were reports that she accidentally or deliberately knocked over an urn of ashes at Heathrow, and all the contents went into the airport's ventilation system.

Vicious's mother has repeatedly claimed that Sid committed suicide, and did not become a victim of a tragic accident. A direct indication of this, according to her, was the lines written by him shortly before his death in Rikers prison:

You were my girl / And I shared all your fears with you / It was such a happiness to hug you / And collect tears with kisses / But now you're gone, only pain remains / And nothing can be fixed / I don't want to continue to live If I can no longer live for you / For my beautiful girl… / Our love will never die. end quote

Michelle Robinson version

In 2006, Canadian television showed documentary, where an attempt was made to reconstruct minute by minute the events of the last day of Sid Vicious. Here comes the shocking accusation made by Michelle Robinson. She claimed that Vicious's mother injected her son with a lethal dose while he was unconscious. This is consistent with the fact that, according to eyewitnesses, in the evening he took a very small dose, which in itself could not become fatal. In addition, judging by the first reports, Vicious spent the evening with friends in a great mood, talking a lot about the return and about his "future in show business" - in other words, he did not show signs of depression.

The film also claimed that Ann Beverly, shortly before her death, allegedly admitted that she had indeed injected her son with a lethal dose, because she was afraid that he would be sentenced to life for the murder of Nancy Spungen.

Musicality

Vicious' ability as a bass player has been disputed. During an interview for Guitar Hero III when Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones was asked why he instead of Vicious recorded the bass parts for Never Mind the Bollocks, he replied, "Syd was in the hospital with hepatitis, he couldn't play, not that he could play at all." Syd asked Lemmy, the bass player of Motörhead, to teach him how to play bass, saying, "I can't play bass", to which Lemmy replied, "I know." In another interview, Lemmy said, "It wasn't easy. He still couldn't play the bass guitar at the time of his death."

According to Paul Cooke, during the months between joining the band and meeting Nancy, Vicious worked hard and struggled to learn how to play. Viv Albertine, a member of The Flowers of Romance, which included Vicious, said that one night she "went to bed and Syd stayed with the Ramones album and the bass guitar, and when I woke up in the morning, he could play." He took a bunch of speeds and taught himself. He was fast." Keith Levine, also a member of The Flowers of Romance and later The Clash and Public Image Ltd, tells a similar story: “Could Syd play bass? I don't know that, but I do know that Sid did things very quickly. One night, he played the Ramones' first album nonstop, all night, and the next morning he could play bass. That's the way it was; he was ready! Sid did things really fast!"

Biography

Shortly after the birth of his son, John Ritchie left the family, and Sid and his mother went to the island of Ibiza, where they spent 4 years. Upon her return to England, Ann married Christopher Beverley in 1965. For some time the family lived in Kent; after the death of their stepfather, mother and son rented a room in Tunbridge Wells, then lived in Somerset.

Sid showed no interest in studying and left school at the age of 15, but soon (under the name Simon John Beverly) entered the Hackney Art College (Eng. Hackney College), where he began to study photography. Here he met John Lydon, who gave him his later famous nickname. According to one version, Lydon's hamster, nicknamed Sid, bit John on the hand, and he exclaimed: "Sid is really vicious!" . Later versions appeared, according to which the nickname was given in honor of Syd Barrett and Lou Reed's song "Vicious". Together with John Wardle (who later took on the pseudonym Jah Wobble) and John Gray, they formed The 4 Johns. As Ann recalls, unlike Lydon, who was an extremely reserved and shy guy, Sid dyed his hair and behaved in the manner of his then idol, David Bowie. Lydon related that they often made money as a duet playing street concerts playing Alice Cooper songs: John sang and Sid accompanied him on the tambourine.

For a long time Sid lived alternately - sometimes with squatters, sometimes in his mother's house, but at the age of 17, having quarreled with her, he became really homeless, thanks to which he first entered punk culture (most London squatters in those days were punks). It was around this time that Syd first went to a shop on King's Road called "Too Fast to Live, Too Young to Die" (soon to be renamed "SEX") and met - first with Glen Matlock (who worked there and played nights on bass guitar), then through him with Steve Jones and Paul Cook. The latter two had just formed the Swankers and were trying to persuade store owner Malcolm McLaren (who had recently returned from America, where he briefly managed the New York Dolls) to become their manager. Soon the line-up turned into the Sex Pistols and found a vocalist in the person of another regular, John Lydon - although at first McLaren's wife, Vivienne Westwood chose Sid.

For some time, Syd was also considered as a possible vocalist for another new band, The Damned, but was crossed off the list after he did not show up for an audition. During the same days, he put together the infamous squatter band The Flowers of Romance; members included the future The Slits. Having recently suffered from loneliness, Sid suddenly found himself at the very center of a new cultural movement and decided not to miss his chance: taking up (following the example of his new idol, Dee Dee Ramon) the bass guitar, he finally accepted the lifestyle that very soon led him to tragedy.

In September 1976, Syd became a participant in the so-called First International Punk Festival, organized by Ron Watts, manager 100 Club in collaboration with Malcolm McLaren. The headliners here were the Sex Pistols, by then already having a reputation as a new, highly promising band with an amazing author duet. When it became known that the program had freed up time for another participant, two participants Bromley Continent- Susie Sue and Steve Spanker (Severin) - immediately offered their services, as the other two members of the non-existent "band" inviting Sid (drums) and Billy Idol (guitar; the latter's place was immediately taken by Marco Pirroni, a friend of a girl named Sue Woman -cat ( Soo Catwoman), with whom Sid was also friends). So on the first day of the Festival, Sid first appeared on the big stage. However, already on the second day he “got off” it, because he was arrested (for starting to throw bottles on the stage) and placed in the Ashford Remand juvenile prison. After leaving prison, he settled with Catwoman and became something of a bodyguard for her.

Joining the Sex Pistols

Sid with the Sex Pistols

Having got into the Sex Pistols almost by accident, Sid Vicious found himself in the rays of the group's scandalous fame and immediately became its most striking character. The press was especially attracted by the image and manners of Vicious, who loved to pose and give interviews, therefore, in the perception of the general public, Vicious, even more than Rotten and the rest of the band, became the personification of punk, although he actually invested little in the work of the Sex Pistols (one written song and several rehashings strangers). Meanwhile, it was Sid who came up with the famous "dance" of the pogo. "I hated the Bromley Contingent, so I figured out a way to run them over this Club 100. I was just throwing myself from side to side, bouncing - boing, boing, boing! - and knocked them down to the floor, ”he said.

It is generally accepted that it was thanks to Sid that the atmosphere of violence thickened around the group. It was alleged that he once attacked journalist Nick Kent with a bicycle chain—allegedly at the instigation of McLaren and Rotten, who were outraged that Kent had performed with The Damned the previous day. Subsequently, the reality of this fact was questioned, since there were no witnesses to the attack, and everyone learned about it from the articles and memoirs of Kent himself. The myth of the "terrible" Sid also does not correspond to the fact confirmed by many eyewitnesses that Sid did not know how to fight at all and was repeatedly beaten - in particular, by Paul Weller, David Coverdale and Thin Lizzy guitarist John Robertson.

Almost immediately after joining the group, Syd met Nancy Spungen, a groupie drug addict who had come to London from New York for the sole purpose of sleeping with the Sex Pistols. Pamela Rook, a friend of Sid's who worked in a clothing store, recalled: “She went from John and Steve to Sid, and he fell in love instantly. For him, among other things, Nancy was the personification of an entire culture centered in New York, where his favorite band, the Ramones, reigned. The couple settled in Rook's apartment near Buckingham Palace, where all three settled down on one, common mattress - in the dining room.

Sid was easy prey for her. Everyone wanted to be with him, but unfortunately he chose Nancy. She was surprisingly thick-skinned: perhaps the most unpleasant person I have ever met in my life. Everyone saw right through her. Everyone but Sid.

Meanwhile, the Sex Pistols also lost their second contract, with A&M Records; in many respects the reason for this was the brawls inspired by Sid. The group signed their third contract with Virgin Records, but by the time God Save the Queen was released, Sid's health had deteriorated: he managed to visit the hospital where he was treated for hepatitis C. At the same time, his two passions - for Nancy and heroin - grew uncontrollably.

After the Sex Pistols returned from Scandinavia and played several "secret" British sets (SPOTS: Sex Pistols on Tour Secretly), it became clear that Nancy was becoming a dangerous burden for the group. They tried to forcefully send her to America, but the plan failed: Sid and Nancy became even closer: now they opposed the whole world, and nothing could separate them. At times, the couple looked quite respectable: for example, during charity concerts in Huddersfield for the benefit of the miners (where John took part in the "cake fight") Sid and Nancy interacted with the children and made the most pleasant impression on everyone. Here, for the first time, Sid was given the opportunity to go to the microphone (he sang "Chinese Rocks" and "Born to Lose").

American tour

The Sex Pistols' American tour began in the South. Nancy was not around, she was left in England, and Sid fell into a depression. In addition, Warner Bros. Records, the band's American label, assigned security guards (led by Noel Monk) to him for the sole purpose of keeping him out of heroin. Thus, the opposite effect was achieved. Syd ran away after a concert in Georgia and returned the next day with a certain Helen Keeler (one of the Pistols fans).

The group soon split into two camps. Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Malcolm McLaren continued to tour by plane, while John Lydon (by this time seriously concerned about his friend's condition) traveled in a van with Sid. The tour took place in an atmosphere of narcotic chaos and growing violence. Bottles were constantly flying at Sid; once he immediately answered the offender - with a bass guitar blow to the head. Chest cut, covered in blood, he (according to John) "turned into circus performer". On stage in Dallas, Texas, Sid walked out, scrawling across his chest a bloody inscription: Gimme a Fix. On January 14, the remnants of the group, until recently considered the most popular in the world, gathered in San Francisco to give their last concert in Winterland Ballroom. At the end of it, throwing his question into the hall: “Have you ever felt deceived?” - John Lydon announced his withdrawal from the Sex Pistols and remained in America penniless. Steve and Paul went to Rio, Sid continued his drug orgy with new friends who provided him with drugs. One of them (a certain Boogie) saved him from death after an overdose and, on the second attempt, sent him to England, to Nancy.

It is generally accepted that Nancy was the cause of Sid's downfall. But John Lydon placed much of the blame on McLaren.

I haven't released it since the beginning of the Sex Pistols US tour.<Сида>out of sight - even on the bus sat next to me. Everything was fine with him, but only until we arrived in San Francisco. Someone will consider this a mere coincidence, but as soon as Malcolm appeared in our hotel, Sid went down like a stone ... The tragedy was that he naively believed in his own image. But he was, in fact, harmless and defenseless! Sid slowly died, and those around him enjoyed the spectacle. Especially Malcolm, who believed that self-destruction was the essence of pop stardom. I was beside myself with rage: we never intended to become pop stars! ..

Sid and Nancy

In London, McLaren, busy making a film (then called "Who Killed Bambi" and later called "The Great Rock and Roll Swindle"), made it clear to Sid and Nancy that they would not receive money from him if they did not agree to perform all his instructions regarding the film. Syd went to Paris to shoot and recorded a version of "My Way" (a song made famous by Frank Sinatra) there. Recording was not easy: Sid kept refusing to work "with those French idiots". The finished tapes were sent to London where Steve Jones overdubbed the guitar parts and gave the track a specifically "Pistol" sound. "My Way" was released as a single in June (with "No One Is Innocent") and immediately began to rise in the charts (#7 UK Singles Chart) . In gratitude for his participation in the film, Sid received his freedom from McLaren. Nancy Spungen, who officially became his manager, flew to New York and set about organizing the upcoming tour there. With The Vicious White Kids (Glen Matlock, Steve New and Rat Skabiz) Syd performed one concert in electric ballroom and, having received the money, immediately flew to New York. Upon arrival, Sid and Nancy went to the Chelsea Hotel, once famous for its guests, now famous only for drug orgies, and rented a room here (No. 100). Nancy really managed to organize several concerts: as part of the new group, Jerry Nolan and Killer Kane (ex-New York Dolls), as well as guitarist Steve Dior, went out with Syd. Mick Jones, guitarist for The Clash, made a guest appearance at Max's Club. But after September 7, 1978, at the last concert, Vicious appeared under heroin, slurred his tongue, barely sang a cover of Iggy Pop's "I Wanna Be Your Dog" and lost consciousness, all the musicians refused to perform with him. Shortly thereafter, Sid and Nancy went to visit the latter's parents, but the visit was not successful. Both were complete drug addicts, they looked terrible and brought a respectable Jewish family to horror and indignation.

Two other songs recorded by Syd at the same time as My Way - "Something Else" and "C'mon Everybody" - were released as singles under the Sex Pistols banner and became hits (# 3 UK). In October, he received from McLaren a fee (by check) and a cash sum of 25 thousand dollars: the latter was placed in the bottom drawer of the desk in the hotel room on the same day. The day came October 11: Sid and Nancy urgently needed a dose. There was a rumor that they had money, and they were ready to pay any amount. It is known that at least two drug dealers visited their hotel room. After receiving the doses, Sid and Nancy fell into oblivion. Sid woke up on the morning of the 12th. Nancy was in the bathroom: she was killed, apparently, with his knife. He immediately called first an ambulance, then the police, and on October 19 he was arrested on suspicion of murder. The $25,000 sum disappeared from the bottom drawer of the desk and has never been found. The musician himself, due to severe alcohol and drug intoxication, did not remember what had happened and categorically denied his guilt.

In the very first hours after the incident, people who knew Sid and Nancy began to express confidence that he could not have committed this crime. “He was anything but Vicious; In fact, I didn't even know him by that name. He was quiet, a very lonely man. With Nancy, they were a very sensitive couple and were great with each other. Even in my office, they did not let go of each other's arms. It was felt that there was a strong connection between them, ”said Stanley Bard, manager of the Chelsea Hotel.

Phil Strongman states in Pretty Vacant: A History of Punk that Nancy's killer was most likely Rockets Redgler, a drug dealer, bouncer, actor (and later comedian). He was reliably found to have been with Nancy that night, for whom he had brought 40 hydromorphone capsules. There was also a version according to which Nancy's death was the result of a failed "double suicide".

Death of Sid Vicious

Sid was placed in Rikers Prison. McLaren persuaded Virgin Records to provide a security deposit (50 thousand dollars), promising a new album from Sid. Warner Bros. raised money for a team of lawyers and the suspect was released on bail. October 22, still in a state of deep shock from the death of his beloved, Sid tried to commit suicide. An excerpt characterizing Sid Vicious

Long, hard days crawled like a string of the “unknown”, and still no one bothered me. Nothing changed, nothing happened. Anna was silent, not responding to my calls. And I had no idea where she was, or where I could look for her...
And then one day, mortally tired of empty, endless waiting, I decided to finally fulfill my old, sad dream - knowing that I would probably never be able to see my beloved Venice in a different way, I decided to go there with a "breath" to say goodbye ...
It was May outside, and Venice was dressing up like a young bride, celebrating her most beautiful holiday - the holiday of Love...
Love hovered everywhere - the very air was saturated with it! .. Bridges and canals breathed it, it penetrated into every corner of the elegant city ... into every fiber of every lonely soul living in it ... For that one day, Venice turned into a magical flower love - burning, intoxicating and beautiful! The streets of the city literally “drowned” in a myriad of scarlet roses, lush “tails” hanging down to the very water, gently caressing it with fragile scarlet petals ... All Venice was fragrant, exhaling the smells of happiness and summer. And for that one day, even the most gloomy inhabitants of the city left their homes, and smiling with all their might, they expected that on this beautiful day, even they, sad and lonely, would be smiled by capricious Love ...
The holiday began from the very early morning, when the first rays of the sun were just beginning to gild the city canals, showering them with hot kisses, from which they, embarrassingly flashing, were filled with bashful red highlights ... Right there, not even letting you wake up properly, under the windows the city's beauties were already tenderly sounding the first love romances... And the magnificently dressed gondoliers, decorating their polished gondolas in festive scarlet, patiently waited at the pier, each hoping to seat the brightest beauty of this wonderful, magical day.
During this holiday, there were no prohibitions for anyone - young and old poured into the streets, tasting the upcoming fun, and tried to take the best places on the bridges in advance in order to get a closer look at the passing gondolas carrying the famous Venetian courtesans as beautiful as spring itself. These one-of-a-kind women, whose intelligence and beauty were admired by poets, and whom artists embodied forever in their magnificent canvases.

I always believed that love can only be pure, and I never understood and did not agree with betrayal. But the courtesans of Venice were not just women from whom love was bought. Apart from the fact that they were always extraordinarily beautiful, they were all also superbly educated, incomparably better than any bride from a rich and noble Venetian family ... Unlike the very educated noble Florentines, the women of Venice in my time were not even allowed to enter to public libraries and be "well-read", since the wives of noble Venetians were considered just a beautiful thing, loving husband closed at home "for the good" of his family... And the higher the status of the lady, the less she was allowed to know. Courtesans, on the contrary, usually knew several languages, played musical instruments, read (and sometimes wrote!) poetry, knew philosophers very well, understood politics, sang and danced superbly ... In short, they knew everything that any noble woman (in my opinion) was obliged to know. And I always honestly believed that if the wives of the nobles knew at least the slightest bit of what the courtesans knew, loyalty and love would forever reign in our wonderful city ...
I did not approve of treason, but also, I could not respect women who did not know (and did not want to know!) Further than what was beyond the walls of their native Venice. Surely my Florentine blood spoke in me, but I absolutely could not stand ignorance! And people who had unlimited opportunities to KNOW, but did not want to, caused only hostility in me.
But back to my beloved Venice, which, as I knew, was to prepare for its usual annual celebration that evening...
Very easily, without any special effort, I appeared on the main square of the city.
Everything seemed to be as before, but this time, although decorated in the old way, Venice was almost empty. I walked along the lonely canals, unable to believe my eyes! It was not too late, and usually at such a time the city was still noisy, like an alarmed beehive, anticipating a favorite holiday. But that evening the beautiful Venice was empty... I could not understand where all the happy faces had gone?.. What happened to my beautiful city in those short few years???
Walking slowly along the deserted embankment, I breathed in such a familiar, warm and soft, salty air, unable to hold back the tears flowing down my cheeks at the same time, happy and sad tears... It was my home!.. My truly native and beloved city. Venice has forever remained MY city!.. I loved its rich beauty, its high culture... Its bridges and gondolas... And even just its unusualness, making it the only city of its kind ever built on Earth.
The evening was very pleasant and quiet. Gentle waves, softly whispering something, lazily splashed against the stone portals... And gently rocking the elegant gondolas, they ran back into the sea, taking with them the crumbled rose petals, which, floating further, became like scarlet drops of blood, somehow generously sprinkled on the mirror water.
Suddenly, a very familiar voice pulled me out of my sad-happy dreams:
- It can not be!!! Isidora?! Is this really you?!
Our good old friend, Francesco Rinaldi, stood looking at me dumbfounded, as if a familiar ghost suddenly appeared right in front of him ... Apparently not daring to believe that it was really me.
- My God, where are you from? We thought you were dead a long time ago! How did you manage to escape? Did they let you go?!
“No, they didn’t let me go, my dear Francesco,” I answered sadly, shaking my head. – And, unfortunately, I didn’t manage to escape... I just came to say goodbye...
– But, how is it? Are you here? And completely free? Where is my friend?! Where is Girolamo? I haven't seen him in such a long time and I miss him so much!
– Girolamo is no more, dear Francesco... Just as there is no more father...
Was it because Francesco was a friend from our happy “past”, or was it just that I was wildly tired of endless loneliness, but, telling him about the horror that the Pope had done to us, I suddenly felt inhuman pain ... And then I finally broke through! .. Tears gushed like a waterfall of bitterness, sweeping away embarrassment and pride, and leaving only a thirst for protection and the pain of loss... Hiding on his warm chest, I sobbed like a lost child looking for friendly support...
- Calm down, my dear friend ... Well, what are you doing! Please calm down...
Francesco stroked my tired head, as my father did long ago, wanting to calm me down. The pain burned, again mercilessly throwing into the past, which could not be returned, and which no longer existed, since there were no more people on Earth who created this wonderful past ....
– My house has always been your house, Isidora. You need somewhere to hide! Let's go to us! We'll do our best. Please, come to us!.. You will be safe with us!
They were wonderful people - his family ... And I knew that if I agreed, they would do everything to hide me. Even if for this they themselves will be in danger. And for a brief moment, I suddenly wanted so wildly to stay!.. But I knew perfectly well that this would not happen, that I would leave right now... And in order not to give myself vain hopes, I immediately said sadly:
- Anna remained in the clutches of the “most holy” Pope ... I think you understand what this means. And now she's left with me alone... Forgive me, Francesco.
And remembering something else, she asked:
“Will you tell me, my friend, what is happening in the city?” What happened to the holiday? Or has our Venice, like everything else, also become different? ..
– The Inquisition, Isidora... Damn her! It's all inquisition...
– ?!..
- Yes, dear friend, she even got here ... And the worst thing is that many people fell for it. Apparently, for the evil and worthless, the same “evil and worthless” is needed in order for everything that they have been hiding for many years to be revealed. The Inquisition has become a terrible tool of human revenge, envy, lies, greed and malice! .. You can’t even imagine, my friend, how low the most normal people can fall! .. Brothers slander objectionable brothers ... children aged fathers, wishing to get rid of them as soon as possible ... envious neighbors against neighbors ... This is terrible! No one is protected today from the coming of the "holy fathers"... It's so scary, Isidora! One has only to tell someone that he is a heretic, and you will never see that person again. True madness... which reveals the lowest and worst in people... How can one live with this, Isidora?
Francesco stood stooped, as if the heaviest burden pressed down on him like a mountain, not allowing him to straighten up. I knew him for a very long time, and I knew how difficult it was to break this honest, brave man. But then life hunched him, turning him into a confused, who did not understand such human meanness and baseness of a person, into a disappointed, aging Francesco ... And now, looking at my good old friend, I realized that I was right, deciding to forget my personal life , giving it for the death of the "holy" monster, trampling on the lives of others, good and pure people. It was only unspeakably bitter that there were low and vile "people" who rejoiced (!!!) at the arrival of the Inquisition. And someone else's pain did not touch their callous hearts, rather the opposite - they themselves, without a twinge of conscience, used the paws of the Inquisition to destroy the innocent, good people! How far was our Earth from that have a good day when a Man is pure and proud!.. When his heart does not succumb to meanness and evil... When Light, Sincerity and Love will live on Earth. Yes, the North was right - the Earth was still too evil, stupid and imperfect. But I believed with all my heart that someday she would become wise and very kind ... only many more years would pass for this. In the meantime, those who loved her had to fight for her. Forgetting yourself, your relatives... And not sparing your only and very dear earthly Life. As I forgot, I didn't even notice that Francesco was watching me very carefully, as if he wanted to see if he could persuade me to stay. But deep sadness in his sad gray eyes told me - he understood ... And hugging him tightly for the last time, I began to say goodbye ...
We will always remember you, dear. And we will always miss you. And Girolamo... And your good father. They were wonderful, pure people. And I hope another life will be safer and kinder for them. Take care of yourself, Isidora... No matter how ridiculous it may sound. Try to get away from him if you can. Together with Anna...
Nodding to him in the end, I quickly walked along the embankment so as not to show how painfully this farewell hurt me, and how brutally my wounded soul ached ...
Sitting on the parapet, I plunged into sad thoughts ... The world around me was completely different - it did not have that joyful, open happiness that illuminated our entire past life. Did people really not understand that they themselves destroyed our wonderful planet with their own hands, filling it with the poison of envy, hatred and anger?.. That by betraying others, they plunged their immortal soul into the “black”, leaving no way for it to salvation!.. The Magi were right when they said that the Earth was not ready... But this did not mean that there was no need to fight for it! That it was necessary to just sit with folded hands and wait until she herself someday "grows up"! pointing the way, and hoping that for some reason she herself will be lucky enough to survive?! ..
Without noticing at all how much time had passed in thought, I was very surprised to see that it was getting dark outside. It was time to return. My old dream of seeing Venice and my home didn’t seem so right now... It didn’t bring happiness anymore, rather the opposite – seeing hometown so "different", I felt in my soul only the bitterness of disappointment, and nothing more. Having once again looked at such a familiar and once beloved landscape, I closed my eyes and “left”, knowing full well that I would never see all this again ...
Caraffa was sitting by the window in “my” room, completely immersed in some of his sad thoughts, not hearing or noticing anything around ... I so unexpectedly appeared right in front of his “sacred” gaze that the Pope shuddered sharply, but then he gathered himself and asked surprisingly calmly:
- Well, where did you walk, Madonna?
There was a strange indifference in his voice and look, as if Papa no longer cared what I did or where I went. This immediately alarmed me. I knew Caraffa pretty well (I didn’t know him completely, I think no one) and such a strange calmness of his, in my opinion, did not bode well.
“I went to Venice, Your Holiness, to say goodbye ...” I answered just as calmly.
- And it gave you pleasure?
“No, Your Holiness. She is no longer what she was ... what I remember.
- You see, Isidora, even cities change in such a short time, not only people ... Yes, and states, probably, if you look closely. How can I not change?
He was in a very strange, uncharacteristic mood, so I tried to answer very carefully so as not to accidentally touch some “prickly” corner and not fall under the storm of his most holy wrath, which could destroy even a stronger person than I was at that time. time i.
– Didn’t you, I remember, said, Holiness, that now you will live a very long time? Has anything changed since then? .. - I asked quietly.
– Oh, it was just a hope, my dear Isidora!.. A stupid, empty hope that vanished as easily as smoke...
I patiently waited for him to continue, but Caraffa was silent, again plunging into some sad thoughts of his own.
– Excuse me, Your Holiness, do you know what happened to Anna? Why did she leave the convent? – almost without hoping for an answer, I asked anyway.
Karaffa nodded.
- She's coming here.
- But why?!. – my soul froze, feeling bad.
“She is coming to save you,” Caraffa said calmly.
– ?!!..
“I need her here, Isidora. But in order for her to be released from Meteora, her desire was needed. So I helped her "decide".
– Why did you need Anna, Your Holiness?! You wanted her to study there, didn't you? Why, then, was it necessary to take her to Meteora at all? ..
– Life is running out, Madonna... Nothing stands still. Especially Life... Anna won't help me with what I need so much... even if she studies there for a hundred years. I need you madonna. It is your help ... And I know that I will not be able to persuade you just like that.
So it came ... The worst thing. I didn’t have enough time to kill Karaffa!.. And my poor daughter became the next in his terrible “list”… My brave, dear Anna… Just for a short moment, our suffering fate suddenly opened up to me… and she seemed terrible...

After sitting silently for some more time in “my” chambers, Caraffa got up, and, already about to leave, said quite calmly:
“I will let you know when your daughter is here, Madonna. I think it will be very soon. And bowing secularly, he left.
And I, trying with all my might not to succumb to the surging hopelessness, with a trembling hand threw off my shawl and sank down on the nearest sofa. What was left for me - exhausted and lonely? .. How could I by such a miracle save my brave girl, who was not afraid of the war with Karaffa? ?..
I couldn't even think what I had prepared for Anna Karaffa... She was his last hope, the last weapon that - I knew - he would try to use as successfully as possible to force me to surrender. Which meant that Anna would have to suffer severely.
No longer able to be alone with my trouble, I tried to call my father. He appeared immediately, as if he was just waiting for me to call him.
- Father, I'm so scared! .. He takes Anna! And I don't know if I can save her... Help me, father! Help with some advice...
There was nothing in the world that I would not agree to give to Caraffa for Anna. I agreed to everything... except for one thing - to give him immortality. And this, unfortunately, was exactly the only thing that His Holiness the Pope desired.
- I'm so afraid for her, father! .. I saw a girl here - she was dying. I helped her to leave... Is it possible that Anna will get such an ordeal too?! Are we not strong enough to save her?
“Do not allow fear into your heart, daughter, no matter how much it hurts you. Don't you remember what you taught your daughter Girolamo?.. Fear creates the possibility of turning into reality what you are afraid of. He opens doors. Don't let fear weaken you before you even start to fight, dear. Don't let Caraffe win without even starting to resist.
- What should I do, father? I didn't find his weakness. I didn’t find what he was afraid of ... And I didn’t have time left. What should I do, tell me?
I understood that ours with Anna short lives were approaching their sad end ... But Caraffa still lived, and I still didn’t know where to start in order to destroy him ...
– Go to Meteora, daughter. Only they can help you. Go there, my heart.
Father's voice sounded very sad, apparently just like me, he did not believe that Meteora would help us.
“But they refused me, father, you know. They believe too much in their old "truth", which they once inspired themselves. They won't help us.
– Listen to me, daughter... Go back there. I know you don't believe... But they are the only ones who can help you. You have no one else to turn to. Now I have to leave... I'm sorry, dear. But I'll be back to you very soon. I will not leave you, Isidora.
The essence of the father began to habitually “sway” and melt, and in a moment it completely disappeared. And I, still looking in confusion where his transparent body had just shone, understood that I didn’t know where to start ... Caraffa stated too confidently that Anna would very soon be in his criminal hands, so I had time to fight there was almost none left.
Getting up and shaking myself from my heavy thoughts, I decided to follow the advice of my father and go to Meteora again. It couldn't have been worse anyway. Therefore, having tuned in to the North, I went ...
This time there were no mountains, no beautiful flowers... I was met only by a spacious, very long stone hall, at the far end of which something incredibly bright and attractive, like a dazzling emerald star, sparkled with green light. The air around her shone and pulsed, throwing out long tongues of burning green "flame", which, flashing, lit up the huge hall to the ceiling. Next to this unprecedented beauty, thinking about something sad, stood the North.
Hello, Isidora. I'm glad you're here," he said, turning around.
Hello, Sever. I came for a short time, - trying my best not to relax and not to succumb to the charm of Meteora, I answered. “Tell me, Sever, how could you let Anna go from here? You knew what she was getting into! How could you let her go?! I was hoping Meteora would be her protection, but she betrayed her so easily... Please explain if you can...
He looked at me with his sad, wise eyes without saying a word. As if everything had already been said, and nothing could be changed... Then, shaking his head in the negative, he said softly:
– Meteora did not betray Anna, Isidora. Anna herself decided to leave. She is no longer a child, she thinks and decides in her own way, and we have no right to keep her here by force. Even if they do not agree with her decision. She was informed that Caraffa would torture you if she did not agree to return there. So Anna decided to leave. Our rules are very strict and unchanging, Isidora. Once we transgress them, next time there will be a reason why life here will quickly begin to change. This is unacceptable, we are not free to deviate from our path.
– You know, Sever, I think that THIS is your main mistake... You have blindly closed yourself in your infallible laws, which, if you look closely at them, will turn out to be completely empty and, to some extent, even naive. You are dealing with amazing people here, each of whom is already wealth in itself. And they, so unusually bright and strong, cannot be tailored to one law! They just won't obey him. You need to be more flexible and understanding, Sever. Sometimes life becomes too unpredictable, just as circumstances are unpredictable. And you cannot judge in the same way what is familiar and what no longer fits into your long-established, outdated "framework". Do you yourself believe that your laws are correct? Tell me honestly, Sever! ..
He studied my face, becoming more and more confused, as if he could not decide whether to tell me the truth or leave everything as it is, without disturbing his wise soul with regrets...
- What our laws are, Isidora, was not created in one day ... Centuries passed, and the Magi still paid for their mistakes. Therefore, even if something sometimes seems to us not quite right, we prefer to look at life in its comprehensive picture, without disconnecting from individual personalities. As much as it hurts...
I would give a lot if you agreed to stay with us! One fine day, you might have changed the Earth, Isidora... You have a very rare Gift, and you can really THINK... But I know that you won't stay. Don't betray yourself. And I can't help you. I know that you will never forgive us while you are alive... Just as Magdalena never forgave us for the death of her beloved husband, Jesus Radomir... But we asked her to return, offering protection to her children, but she never returned to us... We live with this burden for many years, Isidora, and believe me - there is no heavier burden in the world! But such is our fate, unfortunately, and it is impossible to change it until the real day of “awakening” comes on Earth ... When we no longer need to hide, when the Earth finally becomes truly pure and wise, it becomes brighter. .. That's when we will be able to think separately, to think about each gifted person, not being afraid that the Earth will destroy us. Without fear that after us there will be no Faith and Knowledge, there will be no KNOWLEDGE people...
The North drooped, as if inside it did not agree with what he himself had just told me ... I felt with all my heart, with all my soul, that he believed much more in what I believed so confidently. But I also knew that he would not reveal himself to me without betraying Meteora and his beloved great Teachers. So I decided to leave him alone, not to torment him any more...
“Tell me, Sever, what happened to Mary Magdalene?” Do her descendants still live somewhere on Earth?
- Of course, Isidora! .. - Sever immediately answered, and it seemed to me that he was sincerely pleased with the change of topic ...

A wonderful painting by Rubens "Crucifixion". Next to the body of Christ (below) - Magdalene and his brother, Radan (in
red), and behind Magdalena is Radomir's mother, Vedunya Maria. At the very top is John, and to the right and left of
him are two Knights of the Temple. The other two figures are unknown. Perhaps it was the Jews who
lived Radomir's family?..

“After the death of Christ, Magdalene left that cruel, evil land that had taken from her the dearest person in the world. She left, taking with her her little daughter, who at that time was only four years old. And her eight-year-old son was secretly taken to Spain by the Knights of the Temple, so that he, by all means, stay alive and be able to continue the great Family of his father. If you wish, I will tell you true story their lives, for what is presented to people today is just a story for the ignorant and the blind...

Magdalena with her children - daughter Radomir with her children - son Svetodar and daughter Vesta
and son. Stained glass windows from the church of St. Nazar,
Lemoux, Languedoc, France
(St. Nazare, Lemoux, Langedoc)
On these wonderful stained-glass windows Radomir and Magdalena with their children - son
Svetodar and daughter Vesta. Also, here is another very interesting
detail - a clergyman standing next to Radomir is dressed in the uniform of a catholic
personal church, which two thousand years ago could not have in any way
lo be. It appeared among the priests only in the 11th-12th centuries. What, again,
proves the birth of Jesus-Radomir only in the 11th century.

I nodded to North.
– Tell me, please, the truth... Tell me about them, Sever...

Radomir, anticipating his ambulance
death, sends a nine-year-old
Svetodar live in Spain... Chuv-
deep sadness and general
despair.

His thoughts flew far, far away, plunging into the old, covered with the ashes of centuries, intimate memories. And an amazing story began...
– As I told you earlier, Isidora, after the death of Jesus and Magdalene, their whole bright and sad life was entwined with unscrupulous lies, transferring this lie also to the descendants of this amazing, courageous family... They were “dressed” with ANOTHER FAITH. Their pure images were surrounded by the lives of STRANGER PEOPLE, who then had not lived for a long time ... They put into their mouths WORDS that they NEVER SPOKEN ... They were made RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CRIMES that ANOTHER FAITH, the most false and criminal that existed, COMMITTED AND COMMITS ever on earth...

From the author: Many, many years have passed since my meeting with Isidora... And even now, remembering and living the former distant years, I managed to find (while in France) the most curious materials, largely confirming the veracity of Sever's story about the life of Mary Magdalene and Jesus Radomir, which, I think, will be of interest to everyone who reads the story of Isidora, and perhaps even help to shed at least some light on the lies of the "rulers of this world." I ask you to read about the materials I found in the "Supplement" after the chapters of Isidora.

I felt that this whole story was very difficult for the North. Apparently, his broad soul still did not agree to accept such a loss and was still very sick of her. But he honestly continued to tell further, apparently realizing that later, perhaps, I would no longer be able to ask him anything more.

is a British musician who gained fame as the bassist of the cult punk band the Sex Pistols. He became famous for his rebellious character and love for Nancy Spungen, which ended tragically for both. Names Sid and Nancy have become common nouns.

Sid Vicious: Biography of a Musician

Sid's real name is John Simon Richie, but there is no single version about his pseudonym. According to one version, the nickname came up with fellow Sex Pistols John Lydon, after Sid was bitten by John's hamster and he exclaimed "Sid is really vicious!" According to another version, he owes his stage name to Syd Barrett from Pink Floyd and Lou Reed's song "Vicious".

After a while, they began to take to the streets, performing cover versions of Alice Cooper songs. At that time, he begins to dye his hair in bright shades, and a little later they gather the group The 4 Johns, in which, as you might guess, 4 Johns gathered.

After that, Sid gets the opportunity to become the vocalist of The Damned, but did not show up for the audition, a little later he joins group The Flowers of Romance. In September 1976, he, along with other musicians, filled the vacancy by performing at the first international punk festival and getting a taste of big scene, and at the same time the prison in which he soon landed because of his ugly behavior on stage.

Sid Vicious and the Sex Pistols

In early 1977, Syd joined the Sex Pistols, replacing Glen Matlock in it, which he could have gotten into a year earlier, but John Lydon was chosen as the vocalist instead. Now he became the band's bassist, and the choice fell on him more because of his image than because of his virtuoso playing, since everyone (including his teacher Lemmy) believed that he was weak on the bass guitar. Sometimes it was even turned off at concerts. At that time, Sid invented the dance that became characteristic of early punk and was called the pogo.

Soon Vicious meets a Sex Pistols fan, American Nancy Spangel, who became his mistress. A little later, he ends up in the hospital with hepatitis C. At this time, his heroin addiction becomes so dangerous that his friend Lydon was forced to constantly accompany him. The group was falling apart right before our eyes, Sid was constantly being attacked by fans, falling under a hail of bottles and occasionally reciprocating, so in America it was decided to disband the Sex Pistols right after the tour. Sid indulged in drug dope for a while in the company of new acquaintances, who later sent him to England to Nancy, saving him from an overdose.

Then Sid and Nancy took part in the filming of the film "The Great Rock and Roll Swindle", after which they were released from the management of McLaren (manager of the Sex Pistols). Nancy becomes his new manager and organizes a number of concerts in the US.

For a series of recordings, the couple receive $25,000 in cash from McLaren, which they hid in their Chelsea hotel room. This was the beginning of the end. October 11, 1977 Nancy needed a dose and after that Sid and Nancy fell into a drug addiction, from which Sid woke up the next morning, and Nancy was destined to fall asleep forever. She was found dead, stabbed to death with Sid's knife. Vicious was arrested for murder, although few believed that it was he who did it, especially since 25 thousand disappeared without a trace.

Sid Vicious: cause of death

For 50 thousand he was released on bail, but on October 22, Sid Vicious attempted suicide and ended up in a clinic. After that, he once again goes to jail for fighting. Finally, after bail, he arrives at Michelle Robinson's apartment, where he takes two doses of heroin, in between taking which he loses consciousness. The next morning he was found dead. Death of Sid Vicious came from a drug overdose. After an autopsy, an 80% solution of heroin was found in his body instead of the usual five percent.
